Finally, our hunt for a minimal firepit has ended with the Geometric Firepit by John Paul Plauche. For something that seemed relatively easy to find, it has taken far too long considering the number of firepits we’ve reviewed. The Geometric doesn’t just look good, it will last and last a lifetime as it is made with eight solid pieces of 100% Corten or Carbon steel. Depending on your preference and pocket book, you can choose from Corten Steel that rusts to a point, then the rust becomes a protective layer; or Carbon Steel that continues to rust and peel over time. Unlike our other favourite the Modfire, the Geometric can be used for cut wood or charcoal, and comes with an optional grilling grate. When there’s a fire ban, you can transform the firepit into a coffee table with the optional slatted cypress wood top. Made in the USA, and available in two sizes at Design Within Reach’s online store.
